Sentinel: She’s a Pistol and Carries One Too

Lauren Boebert, 2nd Amendment Advocate from Rifle, CO, and candidate for Colorado’s U.S. House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District, came to Westcliffe for a rally held in her honor on Monday, February 17th, with her campaign manager, Sherronna Bishop “Americas Mom”.

Before the rally, the two hit the Main Streets of Silver Cliff and Westcliffe, introducing themselves to the business owners and sharing Lauren’s platform.

The rally, hosted by Jack Canterbury and sponsored by Custer County Republican Women, was held at 5:30 p.m. at the Wet Mountain Valley Saddle Club.

Approximately 65 Custer County citizens, in addition to the hosts and sponsors attended. The room was abuzz as locals greeted each other, eager to hear what Lauren had to say. Mr. Canterbury made introductions, Ann Willson led the opening prayer, and Custer County GOP Chair, Sharon Berry, led the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Boebert became something of an overnight sensation when she responded to Beto O’Rourke with “H*** No, you won’t take our guns!” at a presidential candidate rally in Aurora, Colorado.

This was not the first time she was on National Television and it would not be the last. Many had seen her restaurant, “Shooters Grill,” make the news as “Colorado’s Safest Restaurant” years ago, with her decision to exercise her 2nd Amendment rights and to open carry (because concealed carry has become a lengthy process), encouraged her staff to do the same.

In January 2020, Boebert showed her support of 2nd Amendment protections at the gun rally in Richmond, Virginia, at the State Capital. (Boebert wears a leg holster on her right leg, openly displaying her firearm.)

The crowd wanted to know if she stood for more than just the 2nd Amendment, she did not disappoint.

Who is Lauren Boebert?

Lauren currently lives in Rifle, Colorado with her husband, Jayson and four sons. She is the owner, founder, and operator of a pro 2nd Amendment business, Shooters Grill in downtown Rifle.

Nowadays, Lauren encourages employees to make their voices heard to their government representatives, including President Trump; if they are not busy, employees are welcome to be on the phone contacting government officials with feedback.

Community focused, the mother of four is also an active member of her church and has counseled at-risk women through the local jail for seven years. She educates on self-sufficiency without the need for government assistance.

As a Conservative Republican, Lauren believes our country is in desperate need of true conservative Republicans, not moderate Republicans. She believes Colorado is not being well represented by a conservative Republican in moderate Scott Tipton.

Lauren Boebert thinks Tipton is not strong enough to stand-up to the swamp in Washington and has proven that he isn’t several times.

Boebert says, “[Tipton] should be voting for the values of his constituents instead of playing to the minority of Democrats in his district….Our district isn’t red on Congressional representation, it is purple….You don’t see that in District 4 with Ken Buck. You don’t see that in District 5 with Doug Lamborn…. I am tired of our elected running on one platform and then when they get to Washington, they cave to the Democrats and [abandon] their campaign promises.” Later she remarked, “If I [felt] like the congressman was doing an effective job, I would not be stepping up.”

Lauren’s promise is to not just deliver a platform aligned with Conservative Voters but to stand strong against progressives, keep in touch with her voter base and when she is elected, keep her vote aligned with aligned with voters in her district. One attendee commented that some people hate the fact the Trump does his own tweets. She asked Lauren if she would continue to speak directly with her voters or if someone else would be responding. Lauren said, whether you like Trump’s tweets or not, he worked around the media bias and has kept in contact with his voters and she plans to do the same. Her campaign manager occasionally helps answer questions on social media but the two women feel they are aligned on all issues and if not would be able to correct and clarify within a day on almost any topic.

Lauren: What she stands for:

She is a purveyor of the Constitution of the United States, opposes amnesty and illegal immigration before border security is in place, supports the border wall and Trump’s policy on illegal immigration and sanctuary cities/ states and she supports President Trump.

She believes in small and local government and she opposes the National Popular Vote (NPV) in Colorado. (She was second highest signature collector on petitions to get the NPV on the 2020 ballot so that voters can decide.)

Lauren also supports the Monument Resolution in public schools. The Monument Resolution (which can be found on the Sentinel’s Facebook page under files) is named so because the school district in Monument, CO, created and passed the resolution.

Specifically, it cites the Colorado Constitution giving school districts the right to choose their own curriculum, thereby declaring the passage of HB- 1213 (Sex Ed Bill) an unconstitutional overreach that they are under no obligation to acknowledge.
